Tolmiea menziesii, commonly called "piggy back plant", is a Pacific Northwest native shade dwelling perennial.  Shade loving, likes to be in moist soil.  Can tolerate very wet soils much of the year.  Subtle small flowers appear in late spring, early summer, with light green, maroon and sometimes orange highlights.  Reproduces asexually by forming plantlets at nodes along its flower stems, and sometimes plants at the point where leaf stem ends and connects to the leaf.  Good choice for a woodland garden setting or a normally shady space outside the home.
